Hey yall! How are we doing? Doing okay? Making it? I think we can all agree right now that we’re just trying to make it day by day. The world feels so W E I R D right now, seriously like something out of a dystopian movie. As someone with not-that-great mental health, I will admit that I was a little worried. I was worried that being stuck in my apartment would be detrimental for me. However I am pleased to say that I am able to occupy myself with hobbies and activities that keep my day and my heart full.

(A little disclaimer here. I do want to state that I realize these hobbies are not a “cure all” for mental health issues. And please know that I don’t claim them to be. My mental health journey is completely different from everyone else’s. I just wanted to share a fun and interactive post with my readers. And maybe encourage you guys to try something new while we’re all social distancing 😊)

Exercise
I feel like this one is kind of cheating because everything you read says exercise helps boost your mental state. And if you know me personally, you know that Bennett and I are not exactly exercise people. However two weeks ago we were SO bored. We turned off Netflix, got off the couch and went for a walk. And somehow walking turned into workouts and we have done it everyday since. I will admit, since we started exercising everyday, I felt a HUGE upswing in my mental health. It has been so nice to get some fresh air (completely away from other people). It has been even nicer to do something good for our bodies.
Ive also been using my Apple Watch to track our workouts these few weeks. Being able to see myself close all my rings everyday has been really helpful in making me want to keep up this new “hobby”. If you have an Apple Watch, DM me on Instagram so we can become friends. We can be accountability partners, and fit buddies!

Baking
My social media has been FULL of people baking. It’s probably one of the most popular hobbies that people have taken on right now, and I’m here for it. For me, there is something so therapeutic about being in the kitchen. During quarantine I have made: Bread, Boiled Peanuts, Dill Pickles, Spicy Pickles, Biscuits, Cookies, Banana Bread, and a lot more. I know technically some of those items aren’t a result of “baking” anything however I made it in the kitchen so I’m counting it here 😂.

I decided the next step into becoming my own version of Joanna Gaines, was making my own everything in the kitchen. So that’s exactly what I have been doing. I have received no complaints from Bennett so I guess I will keep it up! I bake a loaf of bread and biscuits every week and they last us the whole week. We made the pickles once so far however when they’re gone, we will definitely be making more because they are DELICIOUS. Of course I have to keep a baked good around here 24/7 per my husband, so I’m always baking some kind of dessert. Im constantly on the lookout for new recipes, so if you have suggestions let me hear them!

Painting
Those who know me know that my biggest passion is art. I was created to create and that’s what I want to do with my life. I also love to share my art with others and create beautiful things all day long so I decided to make an Etsy shop! Right now I sell watercolor house paintings, and watercolor stadium paintings. I also am selling custom paintings that I create whenever I can and those are all one of a kind because I only paint them once. Pretty soon I will be adding custom painted denim jackets to my site so be on the lookout for those!
Art for me is just such an incredible way to express myself. Whether I am painting my body, or a canvas, being able to express myself creatively is the best hobby I can imagine. I have noticed tons of people taking up all forms of art as a hobby during this quarantine and it makes my heart so happy! Create something people, it’s good for the soul.

You can contact me here, on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, all of it! I will respond and we can become quarantine buddies. Let me know what hobbies you guys have been up to lately, and how you’re keeping busy during quarantine! If you’re looking for more blog posts to read, you can find my most recent posts here and here. We’ll talk again soon! XO.
